Friends of Redwell Primary School (FoRPS) are a group of parents, carers, family members, friends and staff who support the work and needs of the school by fundraising and organising events for both parents and children. We are also a member of the Parentkind Association, which support not only the PTFA with insurance, guidance and event support but also parents through the year.
The funds raised by the FoRPS over the past few years have been spent on items such as a treat during the annual Christmas pantomime, a Christmas gift for every child and a whole school author visit wow day during Storytelling Week. We also fully fund the Year 6 end of year school Prom, which is always a great way to end our fundraising year.
The FoRPS raise funds through a number of different events during the academic year such as:
- School Discos
-
Coin Count
- Christmas Fayre
-
Chocolate Raffle
- Summer Fayre
-
Second hand uniform sales
-
Selling refreshments during school events
-
Christmas Cards and Santa Projects
and more, when volunteers allow.
We also have a Second Hand Uniform Swap Shop in the school entrance where you can purchase a variety of quality pre-loved pieces of uniform for £1 per item or swap items for free. If you'd like to buy an item(s) and it is not currently available at the Swap Shop, please email FoRPS at forpschool@gmail.com and we will respond as soon as we can.
Our Friends of Redwell Primary School team is led by our Trustees and Core Committee Members.

We also have a dedicated group of committee members who regularly attend meetings and support fundraising events, and a group of volunteers who help at fundraising events when they're able to.
FoRPS also makes up our Parent Council. We have parent representatives from every year group and we meet once a half term to discuss school issues and share ideas. This is a really useful way for us to canvas for parent opinions, build even stronger relationships and make links within our wider community.
The role of the Parent Council representative
- approaching the parents in each year group for their opinions
- being approachable for other parents to discuss issues
- bringing the opinions to the meetings to discuss
- being open and responsive to other people’s ideas and comments
- sharing information from meetings with the other parents in each year group
- being a critical friend to the school
- linking with the Year group teachers to improve communication
- helping to move Redwell Primary School forward to make our school even better
- attending meetings
