Is my child too ill for school?

Useful information

Germs.jpeg

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they're unwell.

But there are government guidelines for schools that say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.

If your child is absent from school for any reason, please let us know by telephone, email or in person on the first day of absence.  Please note that you will need to contact school on each day of absence – even if the absence is continuous. Please also note that on your child’s return to school, you may be asked to bring to the office medical evidence relating to their absence.

If a phone call or note is not received, the school will contact you.  Please ensure you give enough specific detail for us to make an absence authorisation decision. If we require more information, we may call you back or visit home.

If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, let their teacher know.  Where appropriate school can administer medication with a completed medication consent form (available below).
